Fall Beauty Essentials

After a nice long summer break, I am getting back into the groove of things. One of my fall resolutions (yes, I know it isn’t January yet, but I am getting a head start) is to focus on my beauty routine. In the past, I haven’t paid too much attention to it – picking up products I had heard were good or just impulse buying because of pretty packaging (admit it, you’ve done that too). But now, I have a newfound appreciation for products that are actually “good” for my skin.

Maybe it’s the cool air that hit D.C. recently or the fact that I am definitely in full on fall-mode with #PSL’s and this #SweaterWeather. Nonetheless, here are the products I discovered recently that I fell in love with & I know you will too:

As per usual, everything is linked below!

Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceFirst off, this moisturizing primer smells incredible – that is reason alone to buy it. It works so well and feels super light on my skin. Since using it, I’ve noticed my makeup lasting me way longer from day to night. It also makes my skin feel amazing (& crazy soft).

I never realized the importance of a primer until I started using one, but now I can never go back. If you are a non-believer or use primer on the reg., I highly suggest giving this one a go – you won’t regret it!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceI can never go back to using foundation ever again after I found this. Laura Mercier has also ruined me for all other tinted moisturizers. At first, being a foundation person and having a pinkish tone to my skin, I wasn’t sure this tinted moisturizer would give me enough coverage. However, that was not the case.

The packaging doesn’t lie when it says, “lightweight flawless coverage,” because I really do feel flawless when I wear this stuff. Plus, it has sunscreen in it which is something that should be worn daily to keep your skin healthy & happy. I cannot recommend this stuff enough – no, literally, I keep on telling people to go and get it. I use the shade “porcelain.”

It Cosmetics Universal Contour Kit - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceI went out on a limb purchasing this contour palette but I am so glad I took a chance on it. Not only do I use it to contour my face (who am I kidding; I try to contour my face), I use it as eyeshadow, and for highlighter on my face. I have always loved the products “It Cosmetics” makes and this is no exception. Plus, there is a handy guide for those who have no idea what to do when it comes to contouring (like me)!

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Honey - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceFinally, something that actually covers the dark circles under my eyes. I love this “radiant creamy concealer” by NARS. This stuff is super lightweight and looks really smooth on my skin. Plus, it lasts throughout the day, which is something I can’t say for previous concealers I’ve tried. I use the shade “honey.”

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceI have never been a big lipstick person but I absolutely love this one by Stila. The best part is it stays put for hours on end. I would get one of these in every color if I could – but this shade of pink, Patina, is my favorite right now!

Rodan + Fields Lash Booster - Sweet Life of Lauren GraceLast but certainly not least is the best thing that has ever happened to my eyelashes, the Rodan+Feilds “lash booster.”

I love how long my lashes have grown since using this product on the reg. The best part, they are totally natural. Not only is this a healthy way to grow your lashes, it really works!

My Favorite Products – Spring Roundup

My Favorite Products

I decided to switch up my beauty routine recently and my skin, lips, hair, and eyelashes have thanked me… These are a few of my new favorite products!

Remember, you can click on the pictures to purchase the products.

Ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color: For so long I had been using a normal eyebrow pencil so when I started using this benefit brow gel I was blown away. No more worrying about my eyebrows looking horrible at the end of the day / applying more of the eyebrow pencil in the middle of the day and I was finally able to shape my eyebrows in a way that looked completely natural (and no lines)! I can’t recommend this product enough, especially for those who put their makeup on super quick in the morning and don’t have much time to mess around with perfecting their brows. I use the 01 color (light) because it goes best with my cool skin tone and blonde hair.

Blowout Balm R + Co

R+Co Park Ave Blowout Balm:  I’m obsessed with this new styling product! It keeps my hair looking bouncy and feeling super soft. The best thing is, my hair looks just as good on the second day (which is new for me)! A little bit of the product goes a long way – so it’s well worth the slightly higher price tag. This is now a must have in my daily hair routine.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Palette
Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette: I love the warm colors in this palette and the pink and gold hues. Plus, the dark blue is great for the crease. These colors go well with my skin tone and my blue & green eyes. Plus, the palette literally smells like chocolate – it’s amazing.

Rodan+Fields Lash Enhancements
Rodan+Fields Lash Enhancements: I’ve been using the lash boost for 8 weeks now and my lashes have been completely transformed! I started to see results after week 3 and have been floored every week with the amazing results. They are looking long and beyond belief. The serum is worth every penny – I have never been more excited about my eyelashes! I will be posting a before and after transformation post soon so stay tuned. Click the picture above or the link to purchase today!

Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture SPF 15
Neutrogena SPF 15: Now that summer is right around the corner, sunscreen should be an essential part of your daily routine. I’ve started using this moisturizer everyday under my foundation to protect my skin from the harsh sun. I was surprised by how “oil-free” it actually is – my skin didn’t feel oily at all after using it. This is the first moisturizer I’ve used that didn’t dry out my skin or clog my pores. I definitely recommend trying out this product if you are searching for a good facial sunscreen!

Vaseline rosy lips lip therapyVaseline Lip Therapy: I recently was introduce to lip therapy and I can’t believe I didn’t know about this before. I use the “rosy lips” for a cute pink tint.

SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Mattifying

SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: I have been searching for a non-oily solution for removing my makeup for forever and I have finally found something I love – this micellar water. The all-in-1 magnifying is so gentle on my skin and takes off my makeup so easily (even waterproof eyeliner)! The micellar water works so well and leaves my face feeling super smooth and hydrated. I am so happy with this – I’m never going back to another makeup remover again!

New York City Girl

New York city girl

NYC, how I love you so… Photo Apr 23, 7 08 26 PMWe had so much fun in New York City this past weekend. This trip was the first time I walked the Brooklyn Bridge and it was amazing – I mean look at that view! I was totally having Kate & Leopold flashbacks to the scene where she crosses the bridge. Some of the food highlights:

  • I finally tried the famous Levain Bakery and the cookies definitely lived up to the hype – they were gooey and delicious.
  • We also had to go to Mikey Likes It ice cream shop and try the Parliamint Funkadelic flavor (mint ice cream with crushed Oreos). We got it in a milkshake and it was super good!
  • We got pizza from Prince St. Pizza and it was super good, probably one of the best pizza slices I’ve ever had – and I’ve had a lot of pizza in my lifetime!
  • Of course we had to stop by my all time favorite Magnolia Bakery and get the banana pudding (my favorite) and obviously it was delicious.

As you can see we tried a ton of new (to us) food spots! We love finding new good eats so let me know if you have any recommendations for places we should try next time we are in NYC in the comments below!

That’s My Best Friend

We all know long distance is hard—and I’m not talking about dating. This is serious long distance: a long distance best friend.

From living down the street from each other to living on opposite coasts, my bestie and I have been inseparable since grade school. When we moved away for college we knew distance had nothing on us… Here are a few things I’ve learned about having a best friend 2,685 miles away:

  1. Your bond grows stronger being apart
  2. You’re constantly texting, snapchatting or facetiming to stay in touch
  3. They give you a fresh new perspective on things
  4. It’s easier to be honest with them
  5. You spend hours reminiscing and laughing about the past
  6. Reunions are a grand affair
  7. Long-distance best friends are friends for life

I had so much fun exploring Charlottesville and University of Virginia! We meandered along the Historic Downtown Mall and I shopped around in a few boutiques. We grabbed some grub at the famous Jack Brown’s Beer and Burger Joint saw the Paramount theater along the way. UVA’s campus is not only historic but it’s absolutely beautiful! I especially loved the rotunda on campus designed by Thomas Jefferson. Below are some of the pictures I snapped along the way…
