It’s springtime and that means two of my favorite things – Cherry Blossom season has officially sprung in Washington, DC and my birthday is finally here! There is usually a sea of white and pink on the trees by the Tidal Basin but this year nearly half of the buds are gone as a result of the snow storm last week. However, I was still determined to see the trees even if the most of them were no longer in bloom. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there to see more than I was expecting! A little history lesson about the Cherry Blossoms… They were a gift from the Mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki to the city of Washington, DC in 1912. The first National Cherry Blossom Festival began in 1927. This year marks the 90th year of the festival that commemorates the gift of 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees and the lasting friendship and close relationship between the United States and Japan. My Tory Burch Bucket Bag was perfect for the trip because it matched my new Stella & Dot long necklace and it was big enough to fit my camera!
