Summery Off-The-Shoulder

It’s officially summer y’all! Time to put away those jackets and bring on the off-the-shoulder tops. I loved switching over from my winter to summer wardrobe and going from a bunch of black and neutral shades to now bright colors and tons of variation in my closet! I hang most of my clothes up and I forgot how much summer stuff I have – Does that happen to anyone else after a whole year, forgetting all the clothes you have?!

Summer is my favorite time of the year and this marks my first summer season sharing my “sweet life” with you all. Let’s get started!

Here’s one of my new fave off-the-shoulder tops. I love that it can be worn as either a tunic or a dress – however, if you’re tall like me, I’d stick with wearing it as a tunic! I paired it with my trusty white jean capri’s and my new rockstud white wedges that I’m totally obsessing over (see below for outfit details).

I went with my classic white Kendra Scott earrings and my favorite initial ring and cuff for jewelry. With off-the-shoulder and even semi-busy tops in general I like to keep my accessories simple. I have been getting really into barely-there choker necklaces and I love this one that has a tiny teardrop diamond on it.

That’s My Best Friend

We all know long distance is hard—and I’m not talking about dating. This is serious long distance: a long distance best friend.

From living down the street from each other to living on opposite coasts, my bestie and I have been inseparable since grade school. When we moved away for college we knew distance had nothing on us… Here are a few things I’ve learned about having a best friend 2,685 miles away:

  1. Your bond grows stronger being apart
  2. You’re constantly texting, snapchatting or facetiming to stay in touch
  3. They give you a fresh new perspective on things
  4. It’s easier to be honest with them
  5. You spend hours reminiscing and laughing about the past
  6. Reunions are a grand affair
  7. Long-distance best friends are friends for life

I had so much fun exploring Annapolis also known as Naptown by the locals. I walked down Main Street, had a lobster roll at Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, sat on the City Dock watching the sailboats, and toured the US Naval Academy! It was only an hour outside of Washington, D.C. so it was great for a day-trip. The weather was mid 70’s and sunny – so pretty much perfect. Check out some pictures from the trip below…

Cherry Blossom Birthday

Photo Mar 19, 8 35 07 PMIt’s springtime and that means two of my favorite things – Cherry Blossom season has officially sprung in Washington, DC and my birthday is finally here! Photo Mar 19, 12 42 11 PMPhoto Mar 19, 12 43 59 PMThere is usually a sea of white and pink on the trees by the Tidal Basin but this year nearly half of the buds are gone as a result of the snow storm last week. However, I was still determined to see the trees even if the most of them were no longer in bloom. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there to see more than I was expecting! Photo Mar 19, 12 48 46 PMPhoto Mar 19, 12 50 50 PMA little history lesson about the Cherry Blossoms… They were a gift from the Mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki to the city of Washington, DC in 1912. The first National Cherry Blossom Festival began in 1927. This year marks the 90th year of the festival that commemorates the gift of 3,000 Cherry Blossom trees and the lasting friendship and close relationship between the United States and Japan. Mad About You, Moto Jacket

Photo Feb 21-2If you haven’t already noticed, I am so into moto jackets these days. They’re perfect for this time of year when the weather’s still chilly but you look silly wearing a winter coat. Moto jackets are also a timeless staple and incredibly versatile. I love rocking them with tees and jeans for a casual look during the day and pairing it with a dressier top at night. Plus they look killer with your favorite pair of Stella & Dot hoops. Scroll for outfit details and similar moto jackets…

Shimmer Stitch Sweater

Time to bundle up – it’s getting cold! The District is finally cooling off and it’s starting to feel like winter again with some morning snow flurries. It’s a perfect day to bundle up in a cozy sweater like this one…

photo-feb-20-3

I recently got this sweater at LOFT on sale and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Although fair warning, I don’t suggest wearing this sweater to the airport going through security. Apparently the fibers that give it that shimmery glam look make the metal detectors go batty. Long story short, I received a pat down because of it. It’s safe to say I won’t be wearing this sweater the next time I have to jet off somewhere!

photo-feb-20-4

I have on Paige blue jeans. They are nice enough to wear to work but also work for a night out. Maybe it’s just me, but the ripped jean look seems so “five years ago”. I am all about the classic blue jean sans holes because they are so much more wearable.

photo-feb-20-5

These are some of my absolute favorite earrings ever. They are vintage Stella & Dot and a prized possession for me. I mean, look at them! Aren’t they gorgeous? I usually don’t wear them unless I have something perfect to match them up with – like this shimmery sweater!
